How To Tell If You’ve Already Had COVID Without Knowing It

You may be worried as to whether or not you have already had COVID-19. According to new research, there are some telltale signs, also called “lingering symptoms.” If you concerned that you may have had the virus, here are seven of the most popular lingering symptoms that could be an indicator, you have already had COVID-19 without knowing it:

1. Loss of Taste

Losing your taste is one of the more common symptoms of COVID-19 and unfortunately, some studies have shown that this can be permanent in some patients.

2. Loss of Smell

Also called “anosmia”, this is one symptom that some experts say can last months in those who have contracted COVID-19. This symptom can even last when a person is showing no other signs of illness, making it a solid indicator as to whether or not you’ve contracted the virus.

3. Chest Pain

According to an Italian-based study, it was found that of the most common post-symptoms, chest pain, shortness of breath, and fatigue was among them. Some may experience these in the months after.

4. Headaches

Some research in COVID-19 patients has shown that a high percentage of those diagnosed as positive can experience headaches for months after recovery.

5. Dizziness

Because the virus attacks the lungs and the heart, some patients have experienced dizziness even months after being diagnosed.

6. Confusion

Many doctors have noted that a number of patients diagnosed have experienced neurological symptoms such as confusion or disorientation. A prominent doctor from Johns Hopkins Precision Medical Center stated that at least half of the patients he’s seen experienced these types of symptoms.

7. Heart Palpitations

While research is still completely unclear, many experts believe that COVID-19 does also infect the cells of the heart. This can cause heart palpitations, or irregular heartbeats, that may last for months after diagnosis.
